A true pioneer, Ms. Yopp moved to Florida from New York in 1975. With very few beauty salons, or nail salons around. She racked her brain to figure out where she could utilize her talents in this area and came up with the idea of contacting a dermatologist since that's where people would go that had skin problems. The doctor she first approached was Dr. Bernard Cohen, who was way ahead of his time as a dermatologist and thought it was not only innovative of her but also thought what a great idea! Dermatologists didn't want to do extractions and they weren't thorough, they only extracted one or two of the large pimples. Dr. Cohen worked side by side with Ms. Yopp for several years and then turned over the skin patients to her. Acne was disappearing!!. What a success!!
Eventually women started coming in for brown spots, scars, large pores, dry flaky skin, lines, wrinkles and other facial skin problems. There were no specific skin care products on the market back then so she hired a medical chemist to formulate what was needed for use at home, 7 days a week. The chemist had nothing to go by so he put together a basic formula of main ingredient, in a vitamin base with an aromatherapy fragrance. This recipe made it 80% active ingredient. Today the over the counter products contain 3-5% active ingredient mixed with fillers, fragrances and chemicals. You could use the whole bottle on your face at one time you would only get 3-5% benefit. Which is why it will never work! Not to mention we know what chemicals do!! Ms. Yopp's formula was so successful other physicians were calling on her to begin skin clinics in their offices. Over the next 15 years she expanded to plastic surgeons, offices, ophthalmologists, dentists and general M.D's
offering medical skin care treatments and permanent make up. Physicians across the country began hearing about this and hired Ms. Yopp to provide lectures and seminars to them and their staff.............
And so the movement began. Estee Lauder created Clinique and so on and so on.
